That is a phenomenal figure. Every time one person’s substance use becomes less harmful to them, it invariably also becomes less harmful to society and frequently less harmful to their family. This figure is a testament to our highly skilled and dedicated staff team. The sea may have been rough but our crew are experienced hands.
The genuine commitment of the staff shines through, especially in times of extraordinary upheaval. We have in the last 12 months been through not one, but two re-tendering processes, and all in a time of continuing austerity.
Project 6’s Board has been able to navigate us through these situations, because it is committed to the people that make Project 6 great and because it is fearless in questioning every assumption. One of the highlights of my year was the graduation ceremony for the Structured Recovery Programme. It reminded me how good Project 6 is at moving people from lacking in hope to iving back hope to others.
Over the course of the year the Board has been exploring a merger with our friends Sheffield Alcohol Support Service (SASS) and are delighted to announce this will take place in the autumn. This will allow us to diversify our income base, create sustainability; and grow aspects of our business, especially the Social Enterprise which is going from strength to strength and providing really exciting opportunities for the people who use our service. As result of the merger, I will be stepping down as Chair, and I am delighted that I will have the Project 6 staff as my colleagues in the future.
I want to thank our Pilotlighters for their support, it has been transformational. I need to thank all the Project 6 staff for their commitment to our values, and our service users for their courage in facing their challenges. Thank-you to the Project 6 Board and the SASS Board for their diligence.
Vicki has been an amazing leader in these challenging times and her passion has driven the truly stunning results you will read in the rest if this document.
In the coming year, while we very well may not be sailing in calm waters and fair winds, I have every faith we now have the ship and the crew that can survive whatever storms come our way.
