We are proud to announce the launch of our new Gambling Harms Service, designed to provide accessible, compassionate, and effective support across Sheffield. This new offer will bring together two complementary strands, prevention and treatment, to support individuals at every stage of their journey.
The service will work with people experiencing gambling-related harm, those at risk, as well as families, affected others, and young people.
Prevention Service
The prevention offer will focus on early intervention, with open access to brief, strengths-based interventions, helping individuals set goals, manage triggers, and reduce harm. We will prioritise taking the time to build supportive, trusting relationships.
The prevention service will also include:
- Support for concerned others and families
- Work with young people, raising awareness and building resilience to gambling harms and industry tactics
- Development of peer support and a group offer
Alongside this, we will deliver specialist training to reduce stigma, build confidence across services, and ensure gambling harms are recognised as part of wider assessments, particularly for at-risk groups.
Treatment Service
For individuals experiencing higher levels of harm, our treatment offer will provide specialist, structured support.
Support will include:
- One-to-one specialist interventions, alongside support to overcome barriers to accessing wider services
- A programme of group work, with regular sessions that will develop into peer-led spaces
- Opportunities for volunteering pathways and peer involvement
- Dedicated support for families and affected others
Referrals and Access
We will operate an open referral system, welcoming self-referrals as well as referrals from professionals and partner organisations.
Through strong multi-agency partnerships and flexible delivery, the service will aim to make support accessible and responsive to local need.
