Project 6 uses Beacon CRM to manage service user records for two of our projects in South and West Yorkshire.

On Monday 3 August, Beacon informed us of a security incident in which an unauthorised third party accessed its system using compromised credentials and made copies of database backups.

Beacon has not yet conclusively confirmed that information was removed from its systems, but the evidence suggests that the copied backups were probably downloaded.

In response, Project 6 is taking all appropriate steps. We have informed the relevant statutory bodies, are in regular contact with Beacon, and are receiving updates on its investigation. We will contact all individuals whose data has been affected.

At present, Beacon has not seen any evidence that information has been published online or used fraudulently. However, this does not mean that misuse is impossible, and we are continuing to assess the risk.
