Purpose of the Job
- To act as the first point of contact for individuals accessing the Reducing Gambling Harms service.
- To complete timely, strengths-based triage assessments to understand risk, need, and protective factors related to gambling-related harm.
- To hold decision-making responsibility for determining appropriate treatment pathways and allocating individuals into the most suitable service or level of support.
- To ensure service users are supported with empathy, professionalism, and clear information at the earliest stage of engagement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive triage assessments with people experiencing gambling-related harm, using evidence-based tools and professional judgement.
- Identify risk factors including financial harm, mental health needs, safeguarding concerns, substance use or domestic abuse.
- To make clear decisions regarding treatment allocation, referral, or onward signposting in line with service pathways and eligibility criteria.
- To support service users to improve general health, including dietary needs, and personal hygiene.
- To support service users to improve their social situation, including assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services and budgeting.
- To work with service users to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment services.
- To support individuals and families in accessing appropriate treatment and recovery services.
- Keep accurate and confidential records.
- Produce relevant documents and reports in support of the role.
- Attend and contribute to meetings with other staff and partners.
