Dual Diagnosis Worker (Keighley)

Purpose of the Job

  • To review and assess the needs of people who use the service with a dual diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and substance use.
  • To directly intervene with people who use our services in a one-to-one or group setting to help them to address their problematic alcohol/drug use.
  • To provide support in the community for individuals and families with the aim of helping them to make the positive lifestyle changes that will aid their recovery.
  • To support and signpost individuals and families to engage with other supportive services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support service users to improve general health, including dietary needs and personal hygiene.
  • To support service users to improve their social situation, including assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services and budgeting.
  • To work with service users to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment services.
  • To support individuals and families to access appropriate treatment and recovery services.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records.
  • Produce relevant documents and reports in support of the role.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with other staff and partners.
  • Other role-specific duties:
  • Assist in the delivery of mental health transformation, working with people receiving support from Community Mental Health Teams who have a dual diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance use
  • Supporting people to reach their goals and move towards a meaningful recovery
  • Assist and aid people using the service who have a dual diagnosis to maximise their independence as part of a structured programme of care and support
  • Share, collect and act on relevant information from other support agencies or authorities, as delegated by the Team Leader/ Service Manager, in response to the changing support needs of people using the service, to allow for the best quality of care and support.

£19,002.60 (Actual) £26,603.64 (FTE) per year

Part-time, 25 hours per week
