Facilities and Health and Safety Lead

Purpose of the Job

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will oversee the day-to-day health and safety management across multiple sites, working with the local site representatives to identify and implement improvements.  

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting site inspections, supporting local risk assessments, coordinating training, and assisting in the management of annual maintenance budgets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day maintenance and health and safety management of Project 6 premises, ensuring compliance with regulations and legal frameworks.
  • Coordinating and maintaining records of safety inspections, audits and accident reports.
  • Supporting with any premises development, renovation, refurbishment and/or dilapidation activities.
  • Supervising and coordinating external contractors; creating and maintaining a register of approved contractors.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance in tender, obtaining quotes and ensuring that expenditure is in line with the budget.
  • Responding and managing requests relating to repairs, maintenance and replacement of equipment, fixtures and fittings.
  • Planning routine repairs, maintenance and improvement works.
  • Organising and coordinating all on site health checks for employees.
  • Communicating policies, updates and safety initiatives.
  • Coordinating training including manual handling, fire safety, first aid, etc.
  • Producing accurate and relevant records and reports in support of the role, including but not limited to: accident and incident reports, risk assessments, COSHH data sheets, maintenance and training records, and PEEPs.
  • Investigating any accident or near miss and report to relevant authority where needed.
  • Carrying out routine audits, checks and site inspections to ensure safety and compliance and manage any resulting actions necessary.
  • Ensuring that weekly fire alarm testing and regular fire evacuation drills, emergency lighting testing and legionella testing is carried out by those assigned to the task.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date asset register.
