Inclusive Community Group Worker (Change is Possible, Likewise, Sheffield)

Be a vital part of the Project 6 team, helping build meaningful relationships with racialised communities; working together to identify issues, tackle stigma and increase awareness around alcohol and other drug use.

Purpose of the Job

  • Develop an understanding of, and raise awareness of the barriers that communities might face to access treatment 
  • Develop culturally appropriate support services in the community  
  • Develop culturally appropriate pathways in to community services to enable people to make and sustain changes in their alcohol/other drug use 
  • Deliver evidence-based, culturally relevant interventions aimed at building resilience, and give people the tools and techniques to make positive changes in their use of alcohol and other drugs. 
  • To directly intervene with people who use our services in a one-to-one or group setting to help them to address their problematic alcohol/drug use or other specific issues.
  • Deliver structured group work to overcome issues that prevent people from successfully progressing and exiting treatment. 
  • Co-ordinate and promote purposeful community development activity. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To review and assess the needs of people who use our services with an alcohol or drug problem within a variety of settings.
  • To support people who use our services to improve general health, including dietary needs, personal hygiene.
  • To support people who use our services to improve their social situation, including assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services and budgeting.
  • To work with people who use our services to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment services.
  • To support individuals and families to access appropriate treatment and recovery services.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records.
  • Produce relevant documents and reports in support of the role.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with other staff and partners.
